10 Small Space Ideas to Maximize Small Bedroom

Not all homeowners are blessed with spacious bedroom where they can invest in any furniture without worrying about making their bedroom space more cramped. Some homeowners have to get by with limited space, which means they have to downsize all the furniture that is prone to make their bedroom become smaller. If your bedroom is rather small, don’t worry! Try your luck with one or two of this 10 small space ideas to maximize small bedroom. Check them out! As you already know, this list is compiled for you by simphome.com 10. Add Drawers under the Bed Some people think that staying as close to the floor as possible is the best way to survive in a small room. Well, nothing could be further from the truth! Trust me! You can expand the opportunity of organizing your bedroom better by raising your bed a few inches off the ground. By doing it, you will be able to add a few drawers under your bed. You can make a few drawers with sliders, just like this bedroom. You can also opt for a few boxes with casters for less arduous under-bed storage. 9. Bed and Closet Combo Don’t have a closet? No biggie! You can still organize your clothes and shoes well despite the limited space. Try investing in this bed and closet combo. This bed is raised about 4 feet, so it has sufficient space for a closet underneath. It features a small door that allows you to have an easy access to the closet. The hydraulic support bars help you make sure that the bed is at the desired angle while you are tidying up the closet or taking your outfit. Next to the bed are steps that provide an access to the bed. 8. Multipurpose Storage Cube Thrift stores and flea markets can be great places to find treasures. Not the real ones, though. I mean some used things that can become fruitful furniture if you tweak them a little bit. You can even make an ottoman from a secondhand cube that you can find in a thrift store. To turn this cube into a fruitful ottoman, you need to prime it and let it dry for about 24 hours. Then, put two coats of black latex using foam roller. After that, apply a coat of polyacrylic. Now, it’s time for you to upholster it by attaching high density foam on top using spray adhesive which is reinforced with staples. Next, cover the foam with fabric and secure it with staples. Hide the staples using white ribbon. And finally, add four casters to the bottom. 7. A Bed with Adjustable Height Merging bedroom and living room is a common way to maximize the space of an undersized home. You can separate them using a curtain or any other room divider, or you can go with this smart idea. If you have limited floorspace, try going vertical. This bedroom is unique. The bed hangs as close to the ceiling as possible during the day, so you can have a conversation with your guest at a sectional sofa beneath. When it is time for you to hit the sack, you can pull the bed to move away from the ceiling, and sleep. Even better, if your friend wants to stay for a night, you can lift the bed a little bit, and transform the sofa into a comfortable bed. 6. Corner Closet without Doors The closet is one of your must-have items as it can keep your bedroom organized. However, some closets tend to be bulky and take up a lot of space. Therefore, you need to ditch your closet. Having no closet is not the end of the world. You can still store your favorite outfits. You only need to make some shelves in the corner of your bedroom, and add some curtain rods in them, so you can hang your T-shirts and trousers without compromising your available space. 5. Above-the-Door Shelf Every space in your bedroom is important, including some spots that you think they are awkward, like the space above the door. The space between the door and ceiling offers you a potential storage space. You only need to make a wall-mounted shelf above the door to host some less-used items that you might need someday. 4. Wall Art and Hidden Jewelry Box If you are an artist who wants to have your very own personal mini gallery right in your bedroom, try this picture frame that does double duty as a jewelry box. You just need to frame corkboard with plywood, install hinges at the bottom, and a cabinet door latch at the top to hold your new jewelry door. You may also need to attach some small hooks to the corkboard that help you hold your necklaces and bracelets in place. Finally, you can attach your masterpiece on the door of this jewelry box. 3. Bedroom Storage Towers If you still have sufficient space in your bedroom, don’t shove the bed against the wall because you are going to make these twin shelves. These are actually two identical open-shelves that are connected with another shelf that looks like a bridge. To make these shelves, you are going to need to cut the plywood into some pieces and assemble them to form the boxes. You will also need to add a cleat to sides to attach the shelves. And for the bridge, you need to assemble two pieces of plywood to form an “L”, then attach it to both towers. 2. Above-the-Door Closet This is another brilliant idea to stay organized without taking up a lot of space. Try making your own closet above the door. The area above the door is often left wasted. Now, you can use it to store your clothes. First, you need to make some open shelves above the door and add a curtain rod in each shelf. You will also need to install a library ladder that allows you to reach your above-the-door closet more easily and safely. 1. LOVE THESE IDEAS!!!
However, most of them won't work for a disabled person like myself. Ladders, high shelves, etc. I have a small house & very small bedroom. I think I'd have to have some hydraulics or something involved for alot of your ideas, & that seems painfully expensive. Would love to see some small room storage ideas for the disabled. Great video!

  2. You could buy a decent, yet inexpensive ottoman, for far less time and money you would spend on a DIY thriftstore ottoman.

  3. In most cases, the ideas here are pretty poorly executed. Most people would be better off downsizing their quantity of possessions instead of using these ideas. If you want to find helpful and good storage space ideas, check out the tiny house movement for ideas. They have come up with lots of fantastic space saving solutions.

  4. Yeah , what if you need more free space , not storage ? It should be titled "storage ideas for small spaces"

  5. I'm a designer and have a small condo unit. The best advise I can give is to keep things only that you need. Keep it clean and organize it helps alot.

  6. Today I met a woman and she said to me,that I live too high and it is better to have a flat somewhere on a flat place. Now I see little space bedrooms.
I like my home and bedroom .
Hate to change places or friends and family members

  7. -Declutter
-Store your clothes in the closet
-Nightstand with drawers for clothing instead of using a dresser
-Desk that doubles as a bedside table
-TV stand that can double as a bookshelf
    -Light colored walls
-Match your bedsheets with your wall color
-Use a mirror on the opposite wall of a window or behind your lamp(s) on your nightstand(s)

  8. That music in the beginning reminds me of a slower version of a club song from the 90's that my daughter played this weekend in the house. I'm gonna listen to it again after this video. I love the above closet idea but all you need is one of those extended hook to get clothes down instead of using a ladder.

  9. Turned it off immediately when that nails on chalkboard voice started up. I won’t listen to any of these that use such a horrible voice.

  10. U know what ?
everyone's house is Excellent it only needs love to make it home from house….

  11. Its funny, because most people with small rooms is because of there lack of money and yet, these would all mostly cost there monthly rent.

  12. what you actually need when downsizing

    *bed/sofa combo
    *tv(appliance)/closet/cabinet combo
    * simple kitchen + cabinet
    *shower/toilet
    *table + 1 or 2 chair

    done

  13. Interesting but the "voice" is like nails on a chalkboard, not to mention all the "women" appear to have male body structure.

  14. I’m seeing everyone’s comments about her voice being annoying. Did anyone else notice she sounds like the woman from the troom troom videos? With her broken English, I’m assuming it’s not her first language. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what it seems like? 🤔

  15. Jesus, the way she talks…
It's not the voice itself, your voice sounds lovely. Just…the cadence, lilt, and speech pattern… Calm down 😅

  16. For many years now I have used the base of a single bed of which I had unpicked part of the covering material for storing my seasonal clothes. It's a huge space.

  17. Seems like all of these are about obsessing over storage, if you need storage everywhere chances are you probably just have way too much stuff

  18. The robot voice is seriously irratateing…..It's pretty obvious after it messes up basic English speech….It's just reading out whats typed in a over the top cheerful voice that's real fake real fast.

  19. For everyone detesting the voice used in the clip, please turn the volume OFF and click the CC option on the far right of the screen for closed captioning.

  20. I do realize that some of these ideas may be too far-fetched for some (with height issues or ability issues because of disability and health – I can relate) PLEASE put the ideas in your head and retro-fit them for YOUR capabilities. Don't just forego the whole thing because you didn't like the voice or ideas – make them for you. I say this with respect. because it was told to me to learn to adjust everything for you.

  21. What's ironic about not being able to afford a larger space is that dual purpose furniture is so much more expensive, especially considering the fact that I can buy furniture from yard sales, thrift stores, etc.

  22. Hi there, thanks for the brilliant ideas ,we recently moved to another state for temporarily, and it's small apartment. Needed the ideas for my craftroom/ sewingroom /painting area/ storage space. I now have few ideas for my trouble,

  23. These are mostly terrible ideas, just own less and live within the means that you have. This is what has worked best for myself.

  24. 😂I've done some of these things and let's me say that "Just Add" is not that simple. And if you paid for everything you should not be looking at thrift finds. All l can say is take it one step at a time and if you mess up sand wipe and start over. Took me a whole year to fit my things into 400sqfoot without it looking cramped. Sold and donated 80% of my possessions so like yeah don't be fooled by small spaces looking big.

  25. Suggestion #3 "To make these shelves, you are going to need to cut up some plywood into pieces"

Thehell? Reckon she could dumb it down a little? What if I forget to breathe?!

  26. You are hilarious, most of the bedrooms are the size of a living room…what about a bedroom 10 x 10…11x 8, the biggest 12 x 12? any good ideas?…The bed with the closet underneath , good idea… minute 2,5. "the bed hang over the sofa"…that is a Tiny House video, is no bedroom, it is gorgeous , I think the price vas over $40,000

  27. These ceilings are like 20 feet tall. Need space? Build a mini sky scraper on your wall. Lmao..🤷🏻‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  28. I can explain how annoying the voice is, id rather you just showcase the pictures than listening to this voice that sounds like their being forced with a gun against their head to talk optimistically.
