Anti-bullying mural covered up at Yarmouth school


SNOW MOBILES ARE GOING TO BE HAPPY. THE REMOVAL OF A MURAL MEANT TO CONVEY AN ANTI-BULLYING MESSAGE HAS SOME WONDERING IF THE SCHOOL WHEN TOO FAR. THE MURAL WAS DESIGNED IN 2006 AND SHOWED CHILDREN AND ANIMALS STANDING UP TO A GROUP OF BULLIES. SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAID SOME STUDENTS COMPLAINED THE FACES WERE TOO SCARY. THEY COVERED IT UP WITH WHITE PAINT. ANDREW DOLOFF, THE SUPERINTENDENT, IS LOOKING INTO WHY THIS WAS NOT BROUGHT UP IN COMMUNITY DISCUSSIONS. I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT REASONS, BUT WHATEVER THE REASONS ARE, THEY NEEDED TO BE FULLY VETTED AND THE ARCTIC — ARTIST NEEDED TO BE CONSULTED.
