Beginners How to Duct Tape A Banana creating Concept art in the style of Maurizio Cattelan 🍌🍌🍌

Hi I’m Cinnamon Cooney the Art Sherpa
today I want to show you how you can create for yourself your own piece of
conceptual art in the style of Maurizio Cattelan now if you check the description
down below there’s going to be links to the materials used in this art project
including a link to a free traceable get your banana get your Duct tape come back and meet at the easel right now we’re gonna make conceptual art! So let’s look at the
materials we’re going to be using in today’s art project here I have an art
board this is 14 by 18 and I like the smooth firm surface that it’s going to
give me for this particular art project our other art materials that we’re going
to need for this is a bunch of bananas it’s nice if they have a little bruising
on them I also have the silver duct tape and a pair of scissors. Now making sure
that the edge of your duct tape is nice and level go ahead and pull out a little
more then you need now I’m going to fix it
here with my thumb and I’m going to come to the bottom of the duct tape
and try to very oh very carefully free that from the roll placing this to the
side now it’s time to go ahead and place your banana on the surface now here I
have several to choose from I’m going to pick one that I think is going to give
me a good result I’m gonna very carefully pull it up.. nope that’s not
gonna be a good one. Let’s find one that’s going to give us exactly what we
want up we have one that is ready to be art now watch out for those little
grocery store stickers we don’t want that to come in and impact our art
installation in any way placing the banana where the curve is
facing upwards towards the right upper corner of the canvas holding carefully
in one hand at a diagonal towards that corner
place your tape gently there now I’m going to bring this up over the banana I
don’t want to pull at the skin I want to be really careful with how I do this I’m
gonna bring my thumb down and come across taking the top of the tape this
way now cradling my banana from the bottom I’m going to continue the duct
tape cradle that’s holding the banana and very gently press down now this is a
little bit long for what we’re wanting for this particular installation piece
so let’s be sure that we look at having just a few inches right on the bottom
and about a similar amount up here at the top alright that’s looking fairly
good now burnish the tape down with your fingers it’s fantastic now normally in
an art piece I would sign it at this stage but for this type of conceptual
performance art a signature isn’t really appropriate so from here it’s time to
install it in its exhibit space making conceptual art is fine and easy and even
friendly for beginning artists remember you can do anything when your
imagination is evolved. Be good to yourself Be good to each other and I want
to see you in an easel really soon bye bye you

  1. This is probably the toughest tutorial yet. What is the exact angle of the banana? What is the exact length of tape in metric measurements? So many questions

  2. I really would like to know how you did this without giggling through the whole thing. I might have been able to manage a straight face for maybe 15 seconds. lol. Fun video!

  3. LOL! I can’t believe you kept a straight face the entire time, I was just waiting for you to come out and say, “don’t actually do this, it’s pretty dumb” but seeing you serious about it the entire time was even funnier!

  4. You jest and laugh but I heard some idiot bought this in Miami's art week for $120,000.00 on the radio the other day. Don't you wish you would of thought of it first?

  5. I was laughing so hard …also wondering how it was being done so seriously!!! BRAVO!!! I was laughing so hard while watching it with part of my family. We loved it! I would love to see the out-takes … the candid moments where it was too hard to be serious… lol

  6. first let me say thank you for showing us how to do it (you are such a great fun person for doing this video)…I will have to look at it again because it was hard to figure out how to do it..LOL..😂..ROFL..🤣…I love this video….it was so funny how serious the art Sherpa did it….I don't know how she did not laugh at all (I was so much expecting her too)….I love Cinnamon's sense of humor <3 😂🤣..John must have had to shut off his mike because I know I would have had too 😂🤣 ……..Cinnamon and John you are both the greatest 😂🤣 Thank you for doing this

  7. Now we have a piece of conceptual art worth $120,000.00 🤣🤣 Cinnamon you have the best sense of humour

  8. If You enjoyed this video get excited becuase this piece of art did in fact sell after the premier and is on public Display here LIVE 7/24 https://youtu.be/wA4Kj5NGKZc

  9. This is amazing!! I would have been laughing throughout – 😂 Reminds me of the At&t commercial “Tape a cheetah to her back” 😆

  10. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

  11. This is priceless Cinnamon!!! How did you manage to keep a straight face? Do you have bloopers where you are both laughing uncontrollably, I don't think you could have recorded this in one take.

  12. Omgosh I think I saw a giggle coming on ,LMAO, thanks for the humor, I needed this at the end of my day! Yeah Cinnamon and John🤣🤣🤣🤣👁👀❤

  13. I don't know how you kept a straight face during this. I was cracking up the entire time. The 46 thumbs down are people who are angry that you've devalued the original piece by showing us all how easy it is to create this at home.

  14. If you sell drugs and you want to laundry your money you buy bananas for 150000. The police must arrest all of them and give the money to charities.

  15. I honestly thought you had lost it. I said to my husband, you won't believe what I just watched on my art Sherpa show…..he said, I just saw that on news! Sold for $120,000. Lol!!! I said, whew! Thank God she was just joking around.

  16. I love how you used words like “cradle” and “burnish” and “art installation”. And kept a straight face the whole time!!!

  17. I don't get it. Its a banana on a wall? How is this art? And what happens when the banana gets smelly and mouldy after a few days and how are people stupid enough to spend $120k on this? World has gone mad

  18. Sherpa 😂😂😂😂😂
Why are you so childish!!! I love your pretend seriousness!!! The academy award goes too 😭😭😭
    😍👏😍👏😍👏👏👏
You are the BEST for this “masterpiece”!!!!

  19. Can you use celery or a carrot or does it have to be fruit

Oh and if I use clear tape would that throw the whole design off
And most importantly of all what do I do with it after 5 days lol can I then make pudding or a smoothie

    Shrugs shoulders

You can’t make this ship up

  20. Kind sad but that is how you get famous, get some “dollar” friends to pay ridiculous money on your art to make the hole world to talk about it, and you pay some green % back to your dollar friend perhaps for the rest of your life , this method have been use for decades, suddenly someone art pop in auction/ gallery events etc. like a grain of salt in the mild of the canvas sold for 1m $ 😂Any free dollar friends? Please contact me 🤦‍♀️😂

  21. I really don’t understand. What’s the sense of that? Some people called that art and paying $120k. Just ridiculous!
