DIY DOLLAR TREE FARMHOUSE LARGE WALL DECOR! 29 MARCH 2019

previously on we DIY hey everybody I’m
Remington welcome to a Dollar Tree DIY today I’m gonna share this farmhouse
rustic wall mirror art piece and I’ll show you two different and super easy
DIYs for the inside so to help build a frame I’m using three Dollar Tree
canvases start by gluing the first two pieces together and for easy cleanup
place some wax paper underneath once the glue is dry I flipped it over and place
the large popsicle stick on the seam just trim as needed and then glue them
in place once fully dry moved to the last section
add the glue let it dry a little bit and carefully flip it over and a place the
large popsicle stick on the backside so at this point everything is dry and
holding together nicely now we can start building the frame for
the foundation I’m using cat scratch boards is basically cardboard I started
by laying them out making sure each piece was flat with the canvas and it’s
a perfect fit then I measured and trimmed each piece so the frame would be
one and a half inch thick and to cut it I use scissors and an x-acto now
working section by section I laid out the one and a half inch piece then
marked it and trimmed as needed and as you can see I have hang over on both
sides that’s a little less than one and a half inches I also mark it so I can
line it up later and then I cut the other pieces okay so the top and bottom
is done now let’s move to the sides keeping the top part lined up I measured
and trimmed another piece to fit the side and I did the same thing for the other
side next place wax paper underneath and start gluing the first two pieces
together and add one large popsicle at the top popsicle stick at the top once
it’s fully dry move to the next section line it up add your glue let it dry a
little bit and then flip it over and don’t forget to add the popsicle stick
for more support then once the section is fully dry flip
it over and keep on going until the frame is done next I use small popsicle sticks to
create my signature planking design I hope you guys are taking my words
lightly when I say my design because I just copied the look of hardwood
flooring and I used the smaller sticks because it’s a perfect fit compared to
the larger ones anyways I’m just staggering them like I’ve done many
times before in my DIYs but today I have a little trick for you
a time-saving trick super-long popsicle sticks with the ends already cut off I found
these on Amazon one day and they’re a huge lifesaver especially if you do a
lot of wood crafting and they’re the same size as a small popsicle stick just
longer so I poured them out and I start gluing them down in a staggered design
just like I’ve done before in this video and this one so to begin I’m lining up
the pieces trimming as needed then I glue them down and if you have hang
make sure to trim that part as well a nice and even cut so this part right
here is definitely time consuming but it’s worth it so just play some music or
you can always watch my other youtube videos while you’re crafting the top part is finally done and I was
able to fit five rows with a little bit of hang over for the inner one
and right here on the side I’m lining them up just to make sure I can fit five
rows then I just laid out my design and glued them down later now for the other
side I had to do a little improvising because only four rows would fit I guess
somebody didn’t measure properly but no worries I’m gonna show you how I fixed
it and I think this flaw adds serious
character to the frame you’ll see what I’m talking about later when it’s
painted so I took one of the sticks and I placed it under the frame I flipped it
over added glue and you’re done it’s not level with the other ones but I
love it how it looks to cover the sides I use the larger popsicle sticks with the ends cut
off glue them down and trim as needed just like for the other ones next give everything a nice spray paint
and add some on the inside as well to cover up the cardboard now this solid
color is cool but I need some age and charm so I chopped up the edges of this
brush so the ends were nice and frayed and after about five minutes they look
like this then I dip the brush in white paint tapped it off and lightly brushed
it on the frame and I moved in the direction of the wood going light in
some spots and heavier in other areas and if I put too much in one spot I dry
brushed it to fade it out a little bit and here’s that flawed side doesn’t it
add character I mean it looks like it belongs there all right so for the
inside part flip it over and add the canvas and to keep the inside in place I
came up with a temporary solution and it works really well glue down the popsicle
sticks like I’m showing you here and if you don’t want to swap out the inside
part you can glue it directly to the cardboard subscribe alright so here’s
the first look not too bad but wait until you see the second one it’s my
favorite I came up with this one on accident i
glue three dollar tree mirrors together I laid down the two sides first and
place the last one in the center and I held it together using duct tape now
this stuff is very strong so I didn’t have any trouble as long as it’s sitting
in one spot and right here I’m just showing you there are two different
Dollar Tree mirrors for this project I use the larger ones so to finish this
off flip it over and glue a square candle holder in the center remove the
grips add glue and you’re done I absolutely love the way this one turned
out which one did you like better and if you enjoyed yourself today subscribe for
more I’ll see you next Thursday okay wanna see more subscribe thumbs up this
video share it with a friend and we’ll see you in the next one bye guys you

  6. I love your creativity! Who would have guessed you could use a cat scratch pad this way? I loved both versions!

  7. I like your attitude and how youโ€™re very instructive in your videos. I cannot stand women whom are stuck up in their diys, it kills my motivation. This is a lovely project. I never can find these mirrors at my dollar tree. I am unsure where to get mirrors at like this but I will keep looking. Thank you for sharing your great ideas and projects.

  8. OMG….I don't know which one I like better, I will probably say I like them both equally the same. They are beautiful…TFS. ๐Ÿ’

  9. I am a mirror addict lol. No, I am not vain…..the mirrors aren't for me to look at myself in, they are simply to reflect the beauty all around me!!!! (The vain part was a JOKE)

  10. You ladies are so pretty and yโ€™all make a great team! And I love your crafty mind! And I also love that youโ€™re teaching your daughter how to craft๐Ÿ˜ yโ€™all have a wonderful day and a happy April foolโ€™s

  11. Oh I love this, never know it used cat scratchers. You have a great imagination. Tyfs n take care. Hello little one.

  12. Loved how creative and crafty you are.thanks for such a great ideas and your diys my favorite was the mirrorred look.

  13. When I saw the preview pics I thought that's a mistake. No way did she make them from Dollar tree items. Wow! You are amazing.

  14. The Home Sweet Home horse framed art is AWESOME!! My Dollar Tree doesn't ever have cool canvas prints such as your's and other youtubers. My family is big into horses, as we own a couple and my brother is an artist and drawers many of the Triple Crown horses for the owners and the jockey's. We also like to horse around. :} But, your frame is unreal with the white wash effect. It looks like the fence pieces from a dune grass fence and the one horse with the bleached out mane from the sun reminds me of the horses at Assateague Island where the horses are wild and run free on the beach, but, I so worry about them in the freezing temps in the winter. They are beautiful in the summer when you see them all "literally horsing around in the ocean". Anyway, I have saved your video to my favorites to re watch tomorrow when my eyes are better. It is 1:40am and I can barely see right now but, awesome awesome new idea. Thanks for sharing your talent and wow – I love the long pop sticks. They would be cool for children to make the teepees when studying American Indian cultures. They would be great for me to make my sea shell mobiles out of too. I will have to buy some. Thanks for the great ideas. Your little girl is precious also.

  15. I loved them both! A very good use for the scratch board and pop cycle sticks. The frame would also fit in a beachy theme. Great job!

  16. It's a utility knife, Baby. But I LOVE to see that you let your baby be a part of this. You're funny and encouraging and way creative. I can't wait to see more!!

  17. When you are doing the staggering with the long popsicle sticks. Use the hang over for the next row. This will make the stagger, use less material, and you will have less scrap pieces.

  18. The mirror is my favorite but both turned out very nice. Thank u 4 sharing ur ideas & the tip about the long Popsicle sticks on Amazon! ๐Ÿ’Ÿ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

  19. Ooh they're both gorge, but I've got to say that I'm loving the mirror one more! You're such a talented blessing. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–
