Farah Merhi – Inspire Me! Home Decor | My Starter Story

Barstools are going there When we were going through the remodel process, I took to Instagram but I couldn’t find a
page that really spoke to my design aesthetic. That’s when I decided, okay, why
not start my own page where I can share my process and also inspire others. I hoped for 500 followers, that’s all And today I have 5.1 million followers When anybody thinks of glamour, glam elegance, they think of untouchable. I can’t touch it, I can’t have pets and kids around it, it’s almost like a museum But here I am, Farah, through Inspire Me!
saying to you, You can absolutely have a
beautiful, glamorous, stylish statement home that can still feel warm and inviting. Lots of bling, definitely Faux fur and metallics Rose, because I feel like that
definitely adds a lot of glam but it also adds that cozy, warm feel to the space Velvet, which is very glam But look at this, it’s seating
and it is storage My kids love to play here with their toys but then as soon as they’re done they put it away. I love that! Pillows that are fluffy
and big and you can just dive into them It takes me three minutes to
make this bed, I swear I mean you can lay in this Look at this, deep seating, really cozy I love mirrored pieces and really just statement decor I call it the jewelry, the accessories It’s really what finishes off the whole look for me My style has always been to make a statement Whether it’s through decor or even the way I dress up An updated wrap dress
No messin’ with me right there I grew up in Congo, Africa
Kinshasa Just like any other countries within that continent, there’s a lot of upheaval I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had to grab whatever we could and just run to
the airport and leave because of the military trying to
take over the government We’ve had to leave everything
behind and just walk away And when I say everything behind,
I mean memories, I mean clothes that I was attached to,
I mean my bedroom furniture My journals, my toys But once things settled down, we’d always
come back to start all over My mom would pick a house and I’d look around in complete confusion Because this looks like a dump And she would smile with this
faraway look in her eyes and say, This is the house Give her two to three months
she would transform that house and make it such a beautiful home through her
touches and she’d bring her vision to life She would style it, design it, create it, craft it And being able to walk into that vision of hers was just such a feeling that stuck with me for a long time and
I didn’t realize how much I was always very opinionated, very strong-minded It was either my way or no way Anyone who would ask me, “Well what do you want to do when you grow up?” I’d say I want to be a lawyer I realized that I didn’t I moved to the US
and enrolled into school and felt like I was making a huge mistake, but I had already committed about two years of my life into it So I built up the courage
and I faced my parents and my husband I just told them I needed some time to
really think about what it was that made me happy and passionate so that I don’t waste any more time When we decided that we wanted to remodel my home, That was my “aha” moment. Most homeowners would scream from any kind of remodeling, decorating, designing project I woke up every morning looking forward to it And once I was done I looked at my husband and I’m like, this is my calling It just brings
out this level of enthusiasm and dedication to her that’s very refreshing
I really enjoy it And you want what’s best for
your spouse at the end of the day If it makes her happy then it makes me happy And it brought me back to when I was a child That was another aha moment where I started to understand my mom I’m very surprised I’m really loving the way this came out To imagine Farah would be in this career That’s what we had discovered
Yeah I discovered she liked this! My parents finally moved about five minutes away from where I live here in Grand Rapids, Michigan My mom is really excited and
we’re gonna get to design the house and bring our visions to life together I’m very happy for Farah
She’s doing this job because I like this And she’s doing a good job too The fact that my mom is
asking my opinion about her home is just a feeling that I can’t really
describe You know, where we were and where we are Together, I think we’re kind of like a powerhouse I pinch myself every single day Happy 1st Anniversary at QVC! I don’t take any of my followers for granted I call them my “Insta Family” I have done nothing but continue to be consistent with the content that I put out there and I say to them, I am here for you. You, the follower, you my Insta Family You’re my client, you’re my customer And Inspire Me! Home Decor is inspired by you
