Firefighters reminding residents to cover CO detectors during home improvement work


THERE ARE NO REPORTS OF INJURIES. BARRY: THE DEERFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ASKING RESIDENTS TO COVER THEIR CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS IF YOU’RE HAVING FLOOR WORK DONE IN YOUR HOME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT POSTED LAST NIGHT THAT THEY WERE CALLED TO A HOME FOR CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS GOING OFF. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DUST FROM FLOOR SANDING HAD GOTTEN INTO A DETECTOR CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION. IF YOU’RE HAVING SOMEONE SAND YOUR FLOORS, YOU’RE ADVISED TO COVER THE DETECTORS WHILE THEY WORK, AND UNCOVER THEM ONCE THE DUST HAS SETTLED. ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR DETECTORS ARE UP TO DATE AND HAVE FRESH
