Gateway Technical College- Interior Design

… overlap the different cloths — because that way we can get the most lengths… Interior Design Program at Gateway Technical College offers a creative career path for a number of different areas of interest. A lot of the people that come to the Interior Design Program, male and female, are interested in being creative, the use of color, use of
textiles — um, different materials and finishes to create better interior
living spaces and working spaces. “… this has to come out here here and we have to measure where…” “Something I really enjoy about the Interior Design Program is just learning all the new things. I feel like I’ve learned so much within this past year, and seeing my
finished products and getting those grades that I really worked for, is just so
rewarding.” “I’m finding that my passion lies is definitely residential. I love the kitchen and bath, um. That was one of my favorite classes last semester. I’m
really looking forward to another, another kitchen and bath class this
semester.” The Interior Design Program at Gateway Technical College has a lot of hands-on experience. Not only with the real-life clients that
come in that want to work on our spaces, but we also do two real-world experiences
as far as, start to finish from — design development — brainstorming concept
development to actual the physical, construction of the space. “You have mock clients, and there might be people out there that have that kind of
requirement that they want in a home, or design.” “It’s been so beneficial to be
able to actually, you know, get our hands dirty, and do things that are just
listening to someone tell us how to do them.” … Well, think about how sustainable the headboard is… Our students also, every year, work on the Center for Sustainable Living on Gateway’s campus, and that we’re very fortunate that we have an
entire room, in a house on campus, to be able to redesign and re-conceptualize
every year. “So we spent one week in there planning, and then we took a break; and then,
the next week, we actually went in the room, got it all done — and it looked
awesome.” “We wanted this to be completely sustainable, and — so it was it was a
really tough project. But, it was also really rewarding.” “My ultimate goal is to definitely do residential design. I really want to get in the homes design. Even if it’s like going in the home and seeing what works…” “My goal is to work out in the Lake
Geneva area, definitely doing residential design. Maybe doing a few internships,
different places — kind of getting my feet wet. Really just building experience.” So if you’re interested in a creative field, you enjoy a change of your space, and
you’re looking to do an improved experience whether it be residential,
hospitality, or commercial, Interior Design at Gateway Technical College would be a great place to start for your future.
