Hi, I’m JK Dooley, and I’m a professional
artist, and we’re talking now about the canvas choice for printing of your giclees. And,
one of the versatile things about canvas that I like is, it doesn’t really have to be framed.
You can actually finish a piece of canvas, and it looks just like this, it’s all finished.
You can put on the back, your wire, and your hardware to hang it. And when your customer
purchases it, they can take it home and put it right up on their wall. So, that’s one
of the advantages I think in working with canvas for giclees. You can also, obviously
you can take this home and you could frame it as well. But that, to me, figures into
the cost. If someone purchases a paper giclee, they have to go home and spend a considerable
amount of money on it for a frame. They can purchase this and not have to spend any money
on it for a frame. So, I think it’s the artist’s responsibility really to educate their customers,
which I always try and do, and that way they’ll understand. And I think there’s an advantage
to having a piece you can take home right away and hang on your wall.
