Hello, this is Oscar Moreno with Moreno Custom
Home Visions and today we’re going to teach you guys how to prep your wall for painting.
Okay? Basic tools that you’re going to need is your tape and paper masker right here.
Makes a quick work of getting everything ready. Second of all what we’re going to need is
a flat head screwdriver to remove any wall plates there in the wall so we can paint easily.
And third, we’re going to need some masking tape for all the edging around the doors and
door knobs. And fourth of all, we’re going to need some mild soap and water just to make
sure that the walls don’t have too much dirt on them. Okay? Now, first thing that we’re
going to do is remove any wall plates from the wall. Make sure that we have masking tape
on the outlets just to make sure that we don’t have any paint on them. And then we’re going
to go ahead and mask off all the edges around the walls that we’re going to be painting.
Also around the trim, around the frame of the doors and if you don’t have popcorn texture
on top of the ceiling, you an go a head trim up and put some tape on top of the ceiling.
But if you have popcorn, that will be kind of difficult to do. You can use an edger for
that. Okay? And second what we’re going to do is we’re going to grab our soup and water.
Make sure it’s not too wet and we’re going to go a head and clean up the walls just like
you would a counter top. Just go ahead and clean them off, dry them off. Let them dry
a little while. A good 20 minutes before you start applying paint. So once you got everything
covered up, you have the walls cleaned up, then you’re ready to start painting your wall.
And that’s how you prep your wall for painting.
