Hello, this is Oscar Moreno with Moreno Custom
Home Visions and today we’re going to teach you guys how to recaulk a shower or a tub.
Now, the tools that you’re going to need, well, tools and supplies that you guys are
going to need, are going to be a little handy scraper, doesn’t have to be anything fancy,
real simple. And of course also we’re going to need a caulk gun and some kitchen and bath
caulking, which is very especially made for this gun. So first thing we’re going to do
is open your caulk tube by just cutting real simply a – to the first line of the caulk
top right there, just right on the top, cut a real small hole, you don’t really want a
very large hole coming out of here, ’cause you want to be able to control your product.
So the first thing we’re going to do is use our scraper and we’re going to scrape some
of the old caulk away. Now be careful if you have acrylic bathtubs. You can easily damage
them, so you can use a plastic spatula which you can find real easy at a hardware store
or we can use a caulk removing chemicals that you can also find at your local store. This
is the real simple way though. So what we’re going to do is use a spatula, we’re going
to scrape away the caulk on the bottom end of it, and on the top end, once we got that
caulk end removed, we’re going to use our caulk gun without real gently squeezing the
caulk gun you’re going to lay out a real thin bead right across the line. Then you’re going
to use your finger on top of that caulk bead and have a nice, finished, clean caulk line.
And that’s how you recaulk your tub or shower.
