Hi I’m Tim Gipson and I would like to talk
to you about how to fix washing machine leaks. Now if you have a leak in your washing machine
it is going to be coming from one or two areas. It is either going to be coming from your
supply lines or from your drain. The drain is down at the bottom of the washing machine
and it is connected via a clamp and it comes up and comes into the drain of your wall up
here and then your supply lines you have a hot and cold which are regular hoses that
are a lot like what you would find a connector on a regular say garden hose. The first thing
you want to check is you want to check and make sure that you see if you see any leaks
around the attachments to where the hot and the cold water come into the washing machine
and where the hot and cold water come out of the wall here and if you do see some leaks
in most cases you can tighten it up with your hand or you might want to take some pliers
or channel locks but it is very important that you do not want to overtighten these
too much because you can actually crack these fittings and then down below you just inspect
your drain hose and you want to make sure and see if you have got any cracks in that.
Now if you do have any cracks in that you have just got to loosen a clamp at the bottom.
You loosen a clamp up here at the top and in this case it is a zip tight and you can
pull that out and put a new drain hose in. It could be that just the clamp may come loose
and in that case that is just held on with a regular type of pipe clamp where you just
take screw driver and you tighten that up. It will tighten that clamp and reseal it for
you. So really that is the two things you need to look at to see if you can identify
where you have a leak in your washing machine. So I’m Tim Gipson and that’s how to find a
leak in your washing machine.
