Home Improvements & Maintenance : How to Fix a Refrigerator

Hi I’m Tim Gipson and I’m going to talk to
you about how to fix a refrigerator. Now, refrigerators can be fairly complicated pieces
of machinery, appliance within your kitchen. So if you have a significant problem with
it, most likely you’re going to have to contact a qualified service center to come in and
check out and repair your refrigerator. But there are some things that you can do yourself,
just to check on, if it’s, happens, not happens to be working right. Now one of the problems
we have is if we have our temperature, if it’s not getting as cold as it should be,
in either the freezer or the refrigerator compartment, then what we want to do as a
homeowner, is we want to check down here at the base. And down here at the base there’s
a grill that runs all long the length of the refrigerator and air is actually drawn in
through this grill and goes over the condenser coils that cools the refrigerant that actually
runs your, your refrigerator. Now over a period of time, a lot of dust and lint and everything
can, can build up in there, so one thing you want to do is you want to take a vacuum cleaner
and you want to keep this cleaned out periodically. So if you’re having some problems with your
refrigerator, it could be that that has gotten so clogged up with dirt and lint, that you’re
not getting enough air flow to cool the refrigerant and get the cooling that you need. So that’s
one thing that you can do to check out your refrigerator and see if it’s working properly.
Now if you have some problems beyond that, again, because of the sophistication of these
systems then you probably need to contact a qualified service company to come and take
a look at it for you. So, I’m Tim Gipson with how to fix a refrigerator.

  1. ok the lint clogges the condencor coil not the front grille so really you have to clean the condencor coil in some models is in the front and other models may havet in the back you have to remove front grill to clean the coil

  2. Hi, I have a question. I have a soda machine that isn't working properly. If I leave the unit plug overnight the soda can inside will froze so I have to unplug everytime I leave for the day. I ohm out the temperature control and is good. I am taking HVAC courses right now. So what can causes this to happen?
    Thank you

  3. I guess this guy would call the repair man if his water filter needs to be changed, seeing has all of his videos are POINTLESS.

  4. I would label this as a maintenance tip, not fixing it. A fix it video would more than likely show how to solve the problem without calling a tech.

  5. I learned as a very young woman to always keep your coils clean and it will REALLY EXTEND the life of your fridge…I clean them about every 6 months…
