How to Fix Split Furniture with Wood Glue

When using wood glue to make furniture
repairs — for example if you have a split chair leg or a tabletop; anywhere you
have a crack that you need to get glue into — how do you get the glue in there
that coats both surfaces really evenly? Well here’s one trick first get the
piece that’s split — in this case I just have this board and I’m gonna be
building a project with it. Spread it open a little bit and put in the wood glue. Add
it from the top right there — you don’t need too much; this glue is incredibly
strong. And then we’re gonna use a piece of string; this is Mason’s line and we use
it as dental floss. In fact you can actually use dental floss to work the
glue through the joint so you just go up and down. You want to make sure you go
all the way down to the bottom; don’t worry about that excess glue — if you need to you can always add more glue. That looks about right. Now of course you
want to clamp it so that split stays nice and tight. Yeah just like that and that’s what you want to see when you see a fine bead of
glue along the entire joint that means you have enough glue in there — and there you go. Now just let that dry and it’ll be good as new. Simple Solutions is
