You know your plants need water to look
their best, but the traditional method of watering
by hand might be overdoing it. A drip irrigation system is an efficient
alternative. It delivers water straight to the roots.
Follow these steps for an installation that will keep your landscape looking great. Drip systems are excellent
irrigation solutions and you can buy them in kits. For a typical installation all you’ll
need is an irrigation kit and accessories, mason string and stakes, a hammer, a trenching shovel, utility knife, work
gloves and safety glasses. Of course you want to
follow the instructions for your system. In most cases start by marking your
system’s path using mason string and stakes. Position the stakes were your place the
water emitters. Use a trenching shovel to dig along the lines. Next connect the backflow preventer, the
pressure regulator, and filter to the water supply. Lay the
lengths of your system along the trenches. Connect the tubing and fittings. Don’t
attach the emitters just yet. Turn on the water to flush dirt out of
the system, then attach the emitters. There are many
different types of emitters available. Check the printable instructions for
more information. If you have a timer, install it following the instructions.
After testing the system, cover the trenches and you’re done. With
a drip irrigation system your plants will get the water they need to
stay healthy and look great. For other outdoor home improvement
