How To: Mix Epoxy Glue for Glass

Hi. I’m Simon from Warm Glass UK. I often speak to people who are having trouble with epoxy glue. So in this video, I’m going to explain to you how to get the best from your epoxy glue. The most important thing is preparation. For this you’ll need pure Acetone and you’ll need something to scratch the
glass with, like a sickle stone or something like that. So first you just get a good key into the bail, and then using acetone, you just wipe off any grease. That will give a good key and it means the glass will stick really really well. We recommend using 3M DP 460 that’s the glue that we found works best, but this technique is right for any type of epoxy glue. Squeeze the glue from the tube onto a piece of glass, and then you just want to mix that up
nicely on the piece of glass for about two minutes. And then finally you transfer that onto a new piece of glass, and then you give another little mix and you’ve got a well-mixed glue. Then apply that very gently to your bail. You don’t need much, and then using the Blu Tack you just put the bail onto the glass and
that will stay there for about 24 hours, and after 24 hours you can guarantee that your bails aren’t going to come off. So all these products are available on the warm-glass.co.uk website.
