How to Paint Terra Cotta Murals : Making Snake Designs for Teracotta Murals

Hi, I am Tamal Bhattacharya speaking on behalf
of Expert Village. Clay is usually classified as primary clay or secondary clay. You should
be conscious when mixing water into your clay mix that the quantity of water needed depends
upon your requirements for the clay. Squeezing is a very important part of clay. Squeeze,
by repeatedly rolling and pounding the clay. This is our own design. I use my finger to
make impressions in the slab for decorative purposes. I am placing coils of clay onto
the slab in the “s” pattern of a snake. I am using my fingers to smooth and seal the
coil to the slab. I will continue this coil down the length of the slab. I am using a
blade to make indentations down the back of my snake body. To make the coil for the body,
roll clay until you have a long rope of clay. Use your blade to scratch designs on the slab.
Thank you.
