Interior Design at Central Piedmont

Interior Design at Central Piedmont

Why have I dedicated my time teaching
students is a wonderful question. Partly for what I can bring to them with my
decades of experience as a certified professional interior designer, but
largely what I get from them there’s hope for the future when I see wonderful,
creative students designing pieces of furniture. I know interior design is in good hands for the future. Hi, I’m Lloyd Dylan, an instructor here in
the interior design department at Central Piedmont and I have been lucky
enough to have this wonderful job for 20 years. This well-respected interior
design program offers a couple of certificates – one is a diploma in
interior decoration but the crown jewel of the program is the two-year associate
degree. Thorough, it includes a color theory computer assisted drafting,
architectural technology, history of furniture and design, residential design,
commercial design, products – all sorts of things I’m utterly convinced it’s as
thorough and as good as any four-year program in the country. I’m Alex Zuldess
and I think my ultimate goal with this program is to eventually do a
residential design business. CPCC is helping me get to my ultimate goal by
providing me with a really practical education. When I discovered CPCC, I found that it had all of the classes that I felt like I needed to launch my own
business and it’s so accessible and also affordable. I feel the teachers in the interior design program are really knowledgeable
about their areas of expertise. For instance, Lloyd Dylan has a wealth of
knowledge from practicing as an interior designer. What do I love about this job?
I’m old as you can tell and some days I drag into the classroom thinking why am
I still doing this and the first student will come in and I’ll perk up a little
bit. The next student comes in and I’ll perk up a little bit more and then
another one comes in and questions and answers start snapping back and forth
and all of a sudden its showtime and it energizes me not innervates
me. It charges me up and I think makes me a better person and I learn
from these creative wonderful students
