Oodles of Doodles – DIY Doodle Art

Welcome to the Handyverse. Today We’re going to show you how you can become an art in an afternoon and decorate your walls with some simple free art projects. Stick with us Okay, so we’re back today With this blank canvas this wall leading down to our basement which will be the entryway to our laundry room. If you haven’t been following our laundry room makeover you can check out some of the links below It’s taking a little bit longer than we anticipated so we thought we would take a little break and do something a little bit more Relaxing and fun on this rainy day. We want something we can start and finish in one afternoon And we do need something to cover this wall So we got the idea recently we’re at an art gallery show Where the artists did a lot of doodle art, and it was fantastic and amazing but of course, true to fashion, Jason and I got to talking and thought hey we could probably do that and we’re by no means artists but There’s a little bit of a technique and approach for doodle art, which we’ll share with you, and show you So to frame our doodle, art we picked up the two frames from Ikea, these nice square frames Which I think it looks really great Unfortunately, it’s not the right color they didn’t have black Edging so here. We’re going to spray paint and cover these up, which I think will bring a little bit more class and High-end look to them. Hopefully so um Here we go So in our opinion the technique behind doodle art is doing a series of repetitive Images or drawings over and over and over again and as you do that you kind of build your drawing and It becomes really interesting and unique to the eye when you kind of sit back and look at it all So Jason I both took a different approach. I decided to do circles, and I just stuck with that Rule circles circles over and over and over again, which I started to regret after a little while But it kind of stuck, I’m glad I stuck with it and then Jason did lines Over and over Okay, so now we’re just going to assemble the picture which is pretty straightforward, but there are a couple things to mention. One We’re really happy with the black and the second thing is, this is the top of the frame We’re gonna put the picture in Never mind, my doodle on the back We’re just gonna tape Along the top of the picture and not anywhere else So this will allow the picture to contract with the seasons and temperatures And it won’t give you that buckle, buckling look which you sometimes see in pictures All right, let’s see There you go Doesn’t look too bad I should have signed it… We’ve measured down for our nails, down from the ceiling And we’re going to just put some simple finishing nails in which is sufficient for these pictures because they’re quite light But we are gonna drive them down on an angle cuz they will hold Hold quite a bit of weight angled downwards Just hang it, just like that Taadaaaa… Okay now maybe some of you have noticed that the wall isn’t the smoothest and flattest underneath all that wallpaper We didn’t go so far as to fix and flatten out the wall. We may someday But it’s not high in the list so to help maybe cover a little bit more of that we’re thinking maybe on another rainy Sunday afternoon will do another doodle art picture and hang three and that’ll cover a little bit more of that and distract your Eye But overall I think this is a pretty easy project one. You could do as kids even or the kid inside of you And something you can start and finish in one day, and I think it’s kinda neat. I do think, I do think mine’s better Maybe comment below and let us know which one you think is best Thanks for watching If you like this video hit like and subscribe and we’ll see you next time on the Handyverse
