Painting a Living Room : Wall Repairs in Painting Preparation

Ok, the next step in painting the living room
is going to be doing some wall repair. As you can see, this particular surface is pretty
beat up; there were obviously a lot of nails in it at one time. You are going to need a
pair of pliers to remove any nails that are still in there. You are going to need your
dry patch, sandpaper and mask. So I am going to go ahead and pull out the nails that are
still in here. What happens, especially in an old place that is plaster wall, when you
pull the nail out, it tends to take some plaster with it, so you have a little bit of a pimple
there. So we’ve got all the nails out; then what I am going to do is take my sandpaper,
and just kind of give it a quick sand. Ok, I think I got them all. Then I am going
to take my patching compound, same stuff I used on the trim, and I am just going to hit
those holes where ever you see one. You can use this stuff on cracks as well. In this
case we don’t really have too many; and again, you don’t have to worry about it being too
smooth, because we will sand the various, once the ready-patch has dried. Ok, that should
do it.
