Painting Wall Outlets for Granite Surfaces : Painting a Wall Outlet for Granite: Types of Plates

You’re able to use several kinds of plates
for your project. This happens to be a metal one with a texture on it. You can use the
plain plastic and you can use wooden. If you have one that’s previously painted, you can
use that. So, you have a wide variety to choose from. Basically all you need to do depending
on how much sanding it needs, is I’m using kind of a fine sandpaper. If you’re using
the plain plastic, you might want to use a little bit heavier sandpaper to rough the
surface and then smooth the surface out a little more with a fine. So, I’m going to
show you how you sand it. You just lightly sand over, you want to make sure that you
get the top edges, because when it fits on your splash board the dirt and things will
eventually settle there, that you’ll need to wipe off. So, you want to make sure that
it’s sanded so that your paint adheres well, so you just sand it all the way around, like
this. And, then work real good on the very flat surface. You will also need to sand the
plugs so remember to do that. I’m actually, using a plate, not attached so you can see
it better with the filming, but; remember to sand the plug. You would just go like this
to sand them, so that their not smooth.
And, it’s pretty simple to do; you just need to take that super sheen off. And, now we’re
ready to prime.
