Ștrandul cu apă minerală BAILE JIGODIN Swimming pool with sparkling water (Miercurea Ciuc, Romania)

Jigodin Baths (spa) are located at the southern
outskirts of Miercurea Ciuc (exit to Brasov) We see the former bottling plant for mineral water,
the Olt River and the Jigodin Baths Treatment Base The mineral sparkling water open-air
swimming pool is in back, to the right The swimming pool has two basins supplied with
natural, sparkling mineral water under pressure Mineral water comes from a neighboring well that
erupted artesian with tens of liters per second This is the small pool for children
with deep water up to 1 m The well also supplied the former mineral water bottling
plant (the “Anavie” brand) that we saw at the beginning Next is the large basin that has
a depth of water up to 1.60 – 1.70 m The mineral water is rich in iron and its oxidation leads to the
coloration of the water in the basins in yellowish-brown-brick colors Also, the mineral sparkling water is rich in
carbon dioxide (CO2) that continuously separes Those who enter the water will immediately have the skin covered with
bubbles of gas and will feel the specific odor of the mofetic gases According to an old panel (see video of 2008) the
water temperature is 18 – 19 ° C, and the pH is 6.2 Chemical composition (mg / l): Mg=36, Fe=16,
Na + K=26, Ca=82.1, Cl=45, SiO2=200, CO2=1160 The sparkling mineral waters at Jigodin
Bath have a wide curative spectrum It is recommended for diseases of the locomotor system
(polyarthritis, arthrosis, rheumatism, discopathy, gout …), cardiovascular diseases, neurological diseases,
chronic dermatological diseases, post-traumatic sequelae In the neighborhood, presented in a previous video,
it is a treatment base that works also in the winter At the treatment base at Jigodin are made bath with warm/hot
mineral sparkling water, mofette, sauna, saline therapy As you can see, the pool does not seem to be crowded,
but we chose these moments to not disturb customers At peak season (which is very short) it is crowded,
but not so much that you can not find a place Inside the swimming pool there is also a small sports
field (seen to the right) as well as a buffet Jigodin Baths are situated at the southern edge
of Miercurea Ciuc, near the Olt River In this area the Olt Valley narrows, separating
the depressions Middle Ciuc and Lower Ciuc The Jigodin Baths is easy to reach, even
by public transport (hourly minibuses) The Jigodin Baths area was very rich in mineral springs that
disappeared after execution of the hydrogeological drillings The current Treatment Center continues the tradition of
older establishments dating back to the late 19th century Taking advantage of the lack of agglomeration,
we discovered interesting things In the central part of the large basin there are some
fixed locations where there are releases of mofetic gases These gas emissions (probably CO2) seem to be continuous
and are not related to the basin supply pipe It seems that the mineral springs have been able to penetrate and
infiltrate through the cracks in the concrete on the bottom of the basin In other words, the basins are built exactly on the line of the
old springs of carbonated mineral water from the Jigodin Baths
