The Local Next Door: Southampton with Averitt Buttry

(knocking on gate) – [Interviewer] Averitt? (knocking on gate) Averitt? – Oh hey, back here. – [Interviewer] Oh, hey! – Ready to go see South Hampton? – [Interviewer] I’m ready! – Let’s do it! – [Interviewer] Let’s go do it! (upbeat music) Aw, this place is super adorable! – Yeah, it’s known for
its homemade ice cream, as well as its Lime Rickeys. – [Interviewer] How long have
you lived in South Hampton? – 11 years. – [Interviewer] How do you start your day? – Coffee, paper, and a dog walk. – [Interviewer] How do
you get to work everyday? – I walk sometimes if the weather is good, otherwise I take the car,
or sometimes I’ll bike. – [Interviewer] What’s transportation like if I’m coming from the city? – I’d recommend the train if
you’re on a tight schedule. It’s the most reliable. The bus is comfortable or you can drive. It’s about an hour and a half. – [Interviewer] If you had a free day how would you spend it? – I’d go to the beach with
my dogs and my husband and we’d hangout in the sun for the day. – [Interviewer] What’s your
favorite ice cream flavor? – Vanilla. – [Interviewer] Any toppings? (laughing) – Sprinkles. – [Interviewer] Rainbow or chocolate? – Chocolate. – [Interviewer] Wow, I
wish I had a green thumb! – Yep, if you own a house in South Hampton you’re going to find
yourself here at some point. – [Interviewer] So give me three words to describe your neighborhood. – Leafy, beachy, and beautiful. – [Interviewer] What’s your favorite thing about living here? – Four seasons, especially
fall, is particularly beautiful. – [Interviewer] What’s your favorite thing about doing real estate in South Hampton? – The mix of architectural styles. You’ve got new and old, it all blends really well together. – [Interviewer] What are
some of your favorite shops around here? – I love this spot
because it’s got lots of great gifts at different price points, and there’s also Homenature
across the street, which is good to check out. – [Interviewer] It also
looks like there are a ton of restaurants in the area too. – Yes. So if you are here for lunch definitely go to Silver’s and have a BLT. If you don’t have time to sit down you should go to Citarella. – [Interviewer] And what about for dinner? – For dinner you should
sit outside at Tutto, or go to Sant Ambroeus and
ask to sit in the alley. – [Interviewer] And what makes
this neighborhood different from other parts of the East End? – The walkability of The village, as well as the beaches are never crowded. – [Interviewer] What do you
love most about fall here? – The ocean is still
warm enough to swim in and its also the beginning
of the apple picking, the pumpkin patches,
and the wine harvests. – [Interviewer] How has the town evolved? – There’s definitely
more year round residents who are using their houses
all 12 months of the year. – [Interviewer] What is South
Hampton most iconic for? – Cooper’s Beach just down the way here, Main street probably, and
definitely Tate’s Cookies, which I need to go get
some for a party tonight. You wanna go? – [Interviewer] Yeah, lets go! – So I’m all set. Thanks for spending the day with me. – [Interviewer] Yeah. I’m going to let you head to your party. Thanks for showing me around Southampton. – Of course but I can’t
leave you empty handed. – [Man] Whoa. That was a clutch handoff. – [Man] That was the best
handoff we’ve had in history. (laughing) – I need to pick up something tonight for a house warming party. You could also go to
Homenature across the street. (woman laughing) – I had one thing to remember. – [Interviewer] You had one job! – I was trying to.
