Timeless interior design ideas

Hi Leonie here to share some of my property wisdom and today we’ll be talking about how to save on the setup of your new home with some timeless interior design tips. Now before I share my tips with you one of the important things to note is that whether you’re buying a property off the plan, an established home or renovating, interior design is so important because it will determine how you feel in your home every day. Your home is your sanctuary so fill it wisely. So before you start picking out paint colours and buying throw cushions it’s important to create a plan of essentially what you want your home to feel like and therefore what colours you want to incorporate in your home. So now I’m going to share with you the five key elements that will enable you to create a good foundation that you can reinvent over time. Number one is to have an open plan design. Having an open plan kitchen meals and dining area creates a casual and inviting space it also makes the space feel bigger and lighter. Number 2 is to go with neutral coloured walls and ceilings if you keep it simple and go with whites creams and greys. This creates harmony across the space it also provides a blank canvas for you to create your own sense of personal style. The third element to having a timeless interior design is to have hardwood or wood-look floors. A quintessential feature of the Australian lifestyle is our love to the great outdoors. An interior design is always looking for ways to incorporate outdoor elements inside the home. What better way to do this than with hardwood or wood-look floors. All right So the fourth tip is to stick with earthy tones. The colour that you use in a room will determine everything. It will determine whether it feels warm and inviting or cold and stale, so it’s important to stick with earthy tones such as terracotta, burgundy red, sage green, stone wash blue. You can use all of these colours and carry them consistently throughout the room or use them with a splash of colour against your neutral walls. Okay so the fifth key element is to go lush, lush with greenery that is. Filling your home with lots of plants brings your home to life and has the added benefit of keeping the air fresher. Well that’s all for now I hope that you found this incredibly useful and I can’t wait to hear all about your interior design choices see you next time [Music]
