Tips for Decorating Your Home With Thrift Store Finds

THAT IS COMING UP ON “CT STYLE .” IF YOU WANT TO SPRUCE UP YOUR HOME THAT DO NOT WANT TO SPEND A FORTUNE, THEN I HAVE SOME TIPS FOR TURNING SOMETHING OLD INTO SOMETHING NEW. CHARLOTTE SMITH IS FIXING UP HER HISTORIC HOME AND DOCUMENTING IT ALL ON HER BLOG ONLINE. WE HAVE FIVE CHILDREN, AND FEEDING THEM IS A PRIORITY. I WANT THE HOUSE TO STILL BE LOVELY DESIGN, THAT WE DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF CAPITAL TO PUT TOWARDS THAT. THAT IS WHY A LOT OF WHAT THEY HAVE IN THEIR HOME HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE LOCAL THRIFT STORES AND MARKETS. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO FIND. FIRST, WHEN SHOPPING DO NOT GO FOR THE OBVIOUS ITEMS. INSTEAD, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR HIDDEN TREASURES. AT A FLEA MARKET, I LOSE HAVE A LOOK AT THE VENDORS WITH OX IS THAT ARE OVERFLOWING — WITH BOXES THAT ARE OVERFLOWING. THE MAY BE SOMETHING SPECIAL AT THE BOTTOM THAT THEY HAVE NOT CHECKED. WHEN IDA MAY HAVE A POORLY DIFFERENT PURPOSE FROM WHAT IT SERVED. FOR EXAMPLE, SHE TURNED THIS ITEM INTO A LIGHT FIXTURE. THIS ITEM INTO A PIECE OF ART, AND THIS HEADBOARD INTO A WALL DESIGN. ONE THING I ALWAYS SAY IS TO IGNORE THE COLOR. ANYTHING CAN BE SPRAY-PAINTED AND CHANGED. SHE TURNED A CABINET INTO A BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE. HER NEXT CAP IS TO LOOK — TIP IS TO LOOK FOR COLLECTIONS LIKE THIS GROUP OF VINTAGE BOTTLES. WHEN YOU RATHER — GATHER A GROUP OF THEM, YOU SUDDENLY HAVE AN INTERESTING STATEMENT. KNOW WHAT TO AVOID. FURNITURE CAN BE WOBBLY A LAID — LAKE IS CRACKED — IF A LEG IS CRACKED, SO YOU WANT TO AVOID THAT. HOWEVER, IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE PATTERN OF A CUSHION, YOU CAN CHANGE THAT. IF YOU WANT TO BARGAIN, YOU SHOULD NOT WEAR OR BRING YOUR FANCIEST.

  5. Some beautiful furniture restoration . Some junk here and there. Nice collections (glass etc). Hit and miss. I would replace one of the mismatched sofas with a patterned loveseat having he same shade as the sofa in the pattern . Great imagination.

  6. All the fowl comments! I'd love to see some of your homes! I have a historic home and thrifting is definitely something I do from time to time! Not because I'm poor, but because I love to repurpose things and my home is beautiful! Old windows, doors, vintage pieces throughout are fun and different.

  7. Many beautiful pieces in your home, especially the double/triple candlestick holders. I didn't plan on it, but I've got a pretty nice collection going on. Thrifting is soo addictive & I really enjoy finding new ways to use pieces. And u're so right abt colors. If u don't like it, there's always spray paint or chalk paint! Would love to see more of your home/finds!
