Wood-block Printing Ayomi Yoshida Artwork

Room and Board Tokyo, Japan Fourth-generation Japanese artist Ayomi Yoshida marries classic techniques with organic forms to create inventive works of art. Her art has been displayed at museums internationally, from the Art Institue of Chicago to the Mitaka City Gallery of Art in Tokyo. Each woodblock takes a week to ten days to carve, depending on the size and complexity of the design. Yoshida uses water-based ink to hand block-print the images. Completing a series of prints takes about three months. For this print, she crafted individual buds from paper and appliqued them to the branches. Drawing inspiration from nature, Yoshida hopes her work gives voice to the things that touch us every day. The prints are signed and numbered by the artist, and only available at Room and Board.
