Workshop in Traditional Mural Painting @ Adizya2017 NIT Calicut

sub title Hari Kumar Chelli introducing Artist Sasi Edavarad @Adizya2017 Artst Sasi Edavarad conducting a hands -on exercise in trad mural painting Dhyansankalpam is a pioneer and a leader in installing Mega Murals on walls in Public buildings since 2003 It is important to know as to how the Murals (and the scultptures) lost their primacy .. it even more important to know as to WHY it has happened .. for the same reason you know who destroyed the Bamiyan Buddha .. for the same reason you know who killed Mahatma Gandhi but you do not know WHY he got killed After 250 years of gross neglect- the walls are once again sprouting murals. what Dhyanasankalpam-an openstudio is doing is ‘cloud seeding’ the minds of budding architects. Seasoned Architects display a rare mastery over the use of materials .some have left their indelible mark on some materials like Laurie Baker has left his mark on the ‘exposed bricks’.. murals can be used in a similar fashion to leave your signature -on the building.. think about it we look forward to continue our engagement with Student- Architects across the country The wall as a surface is quite unlike any other surface ..eg paper/canvas/etc ..it is an entirely different ball-game..what looks elementary could be eternal too there is no right or wrong way of depicting a lotus ..at the end of the day it should be pleasant to the eye Dhyanasankalpam thanks Organisers of Adizya 2017 & the Faculty @ Dept of Architecture
