Your Most Common Questions Answered! Budget Mobile Home Remodel #23

hey guys my name is Sam and I’m Angela
and you’re watching a great acre homestead where we are in the middle of
a budget DIY renovation of our mobile home today we are going to tackle a
couple of the most common questions that we get on our kitchen redo you guys are
gonna like this we’re gonna answer some stuff that you’ve been asking us over
and over again let’s go alright so one of the big questions was why didn’t we
put a lazy susan in the corner here well as you can see here we don’t have hardly
enough room to put our arm back in here we couldn’t put a lazy susan and we
couldn’t put the trashcan so it just has to be dead space some ask well why
didn’t you move the sink over the plumbing was already run in between the
floor joists so we were kind of stuck where we kept the plumbing why didn’t we
move the stove it already had a vent hood put in that went through the
ceiling so we couldn’t really move it either another big question that
everyone’s had is why in the world didn’t we paint this wall before we put
our cabinets up well I really wanted my kitchen that’s kind of the basis of it I
wanted something working so I could get to cooking and cleaning and get back to
our lives I didn’t care if the walls were purple with white spots it’s also
like a time machine whoever would ever remove these cabinets is gonna see
purple drywall and it might get wondering it’s kind of like the apples
in baskets are we dug into and the last question was why did I get rid of the
lazy susan mainly because I didn’t like it it took up a lot of room in here and
we need room for people to come over and not knock into each other and so hey if
we want to dance in here we can ever won any awards for our dancing well
guys hopefully this answers your questions if you have any more leave us
a comment below we love reading them and we love to explain our crazy reasons to
everybody thanks for watching guys we’ll see you next time your first Oh
we’re gonna answer some stuff that you’ve been asking us over and over
again let’s go over and over again do it again
so people what you doing why are you doing that to me
mm I thought our press record on the clip we lost it
and it was really really good it’s really hilarious she was really funny I
lost it way to go way to go kind of like the
apples and baskets are we dug into this the wallpaper oh okay everyone a lot of
people have commented out the apples and baskets that before it’s gone we should
like cut out a square and like frame it you

  2. Blessed evening, it was great to be able to meet you on Sat.πŸ‘ got ride of the lazy Susan ..well because she was lazy…lol
πŸ†1st place in the renovated kitchen dance contestπŸ‘πŸ˜Š
Mrs. said she loves the soap
    and thank you😊

  3. Did Angela just say…"some @ hole asked why didnt you move the sink over"….! I'm rolling over here! You go Sis! Cowman OUT!

  4. LOL that was some great dancin there! Can you tell me the measurements on your kitchen ? It looks to be about 5ft from stove to wall and about 12 feet along the sink wall?

  5. Apples and baskets. I was a Real Estate Appraiser for years and you can't even imagine the number of manufactured homes that I appraised that had that same apple and basket motif. It was pretty much a standard pattern for that time frame.

  6. In the small amount of available 'dead' space you could build a vertical shelving unit for your cookie sheets & such. Perfect space right next to stove & sink.

  7. The purple walls match your shirt, Angela!
I vote keep the kitchen purple! ; )
Sweet vlog! I miss the boys.
Love you all to Heaven's gates!

  8. That narrow space would be perfect for baking sheets just have a door made to fit. You actually are supposed to put cabinets up first, so good job!!

  9. LOL, after all, the kitchen is yours, not someone else's kitchen. You do it your way and if they want it done another way, then let them do it to their own kitchen and video it. I will admit, I am glad you didn't go with the lazy susan cabinet. I had to deal with one of them in the past and I couldn't even begin to say how many times a finger got caught in it. Also, with kids, some LOVE to spin them causing everything to fly off the shelves and end up either on the floor or laying behind the shelves. Keep up the good work, place is really looking good.

  10. Maybe you could put a panel over the dead space for a more finished look. I think you've done a great job. It looks bigger, fresh, and new.

  11. you know where you built the spice rack down below that could you build a builtin cabinet that is just deep enough for reg. can of food with a door?

  12. On the dead space in the corner. I have a similar issue in my kitchen as well. I have a double wide that I rebuilt the kitchen from the ground up. I did move the stove over far enough to at least build a cabinet with 5 drawers but then the same issue in the corner. I did leave the area accessible from under the sink though. The vent pipe and I think maybe a clean out opening is back in the far corner. So I designed the face frame of the sink cabinet to be removable and that opens up the whole area up to get into it if I needed to. After ten years I have not needed too. The counter top space is very valuable and I also have cabinets over the area as well. The only use I have ever thought of was for a water filtration system or a small water heater. It takes over a minute to get hot water at present. I think Lazy Susan's are a waste myself and things fall off into the abyss. Pull out pantries are a better for storage of different size items. I built-in two of them about 36" tall and 10" wide and they are side-by-side. Each has the bottom and two shelves. They will hold far more weight than any of those Lazy Susan contraptions. I also built an island that is not secured to the floor. So it can be moved aside if needed. That provides more counter top space, another 5 drawers on one end and additional storage for pans and small appliances. My kitchen is 12' x 12' and I did have to build everything custom because nothing was available in store bought cabinets that would fit properly. So for store bought cabinets you have really done well on your layout. Looking forward to the floor finishing. Thank you for the great videos.

  13. I agree with some of the other comments a cubbie for cookie sheets cutting boards next to the sink, then closed in dead space by the stove.

  14. I'm happy that you have a kitchen. I remember when I went the way you did. Turmoil and unsettled for weeks took a tole on my sanity.
    Done! Great! Enjoy!

  15. I can definitely see why you would want your kitchen functioning. It and the bathroom are two very important rooms.

BTW your dance moves were pretty good.

  16. You will be so happy that you didn't leave that L in the counter because I have one in my tiny kitchen (2 of mine would fit in yours) and I can't wait until it is gone and have a straight run like you do.

  17. I just love you two. I think the two of you should go on dancing with the stars, I would vote for you. You gave me such a good chuckle. As always I look forward to each video you put out. Thank you!

  18. Yes – frame a square of the old wallpaper !!!! Time machine πŸ‘
Y’all keep dancing πŸ’ƒ like nobody’s watching 😎 As long as you’re happy & having fun together , nothing else matters ! ( maybe google some new dance moves , tho ??🀣 just kidding πŸ’‹)
As for the empty space in the corner … is it possible to hang some hooks within reach to put hiot pads on , or a spot to hang the β€œ bag of bags β€œ after grocery shopping ? There’s a way to utilize the space that frees up another spot and still is unobtrusive to your beautiful new kitchen . You will paint when the time is right that fits your schedule, so no worries ! – – y’all are doing a great job πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  19. I vote for putting a cookie-sheet box/cabinet in that little dead space! Or at a minimum a trim piece to finish it out. Also, I’d love to hear any design plans for the cabinet color, backsplash, flooring, etc. Are you keeping the white appliances or updating them to match the new microwave range hood?

  20. O.k, You are both so darn much fun!!! I love it, if you want to dance, you can dance in the kitchen! Some things….room if people come over and room for dancing are more important than lazy susans, you don't like. (due the expense and flimsiness/you said these two things in previous video.) Speaking of which, I thought you explained everything clearly before! Love to you both, thanks for the fun! Take care and God Bless.

  21. Besides a cookie sheet rack, a hinged false front for the rest of the empty space would give you somewhere to hide things, like presents for the kids, or valuables… one would have to pull the stove out to get to them.

  22. You two crack me up! Sam is sooo handy, that little space between sink and stove is perfect for a skinny shelf or cabinet which would hold cookie sheets, pizza pans etc. πŸ‘πŸΌ

  23. Instead of the hole put a board there would look better and stop things getting in there……but you have done a fab job ….a πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  24. I've seen a shelf that slides out of a small space and it holds spices or any kind of food. Can goods. I've seen that it tiny houses

  25. Yeah…I like the idea of framing a small bit of the Apples-N-Baskets I'd just nail up a frame and work around it πŸ™‚ It would be fun kitchen art πŸ™‚

  26. really enjoy watching you two, the space between sink & stove, is it big enough for a thin 6" or 9" cabinet to put trays, muffin pans, cutting boards, etc? your reasons for not moving sink and stove made sense to me. just hate loosing potential storage space. thanks for all your info & efforts.
